For me, it goes beyond trends or marketing buzzwords. It’s about making intentional decisions that reflect care for our skin, our planet, and our overall well-being. Let me share a little more about why I believe natural ingredients hold such a special place in skincare.
As a formulator, my perspective is nuanced. I don’t see the world — or skincare — in black and white. Not all lab-created ingredients are bad, and not all natural ones are automatically safe or sustainable. Instead, I look at the bigger picture:
First, petrochemical-derived ingredients are a significant concern for me because of their impact on the environment. They contribute to pollution and can contaminate vital resources like water, soil, and air. That’s why I’ve chosen to craft our formulas using mainly natural and naturally derived ingredients that are responsibly and ethically produced.
Second, there’s something magical about the sensorial experience of natural ingredients. Each botanical has its own unique character, bringing depth and richness to every product. When you massage these ingredients into your skin, you’re not just nourishing your body — you’re connecting with the beauty and vitality of nature.
For instance, some of my favorite oils for moisturizing are cacay, jojoba, and rosehip seed oils. The blend is rich in nutrients, feels warm on the skin, yet remains light and deeply absorbing. That’s why I use them in ETEREA Retinol Alternative Óleo-Complex. Or consider the delicate aroma of organic jasmine extract mixed with organic neroli hydrosol — when I was creating FLOREA A.M. Beauty Concentrate, my lab smelled absolutely heavenly.
Plants are nature’s gift to us. They’re packed with nutrients that support the skin in ways no synthetic ingredient can fully replicate.
For me, choosing natural ingredients isn’t about drawing hard lines or resorting to fear-based marketing. It’s about creating something intentional, thoughtful, and meaningful, for your skin and for the planet.
